Culinary Road Trip to the Beach!

Recent visit to Daydream Cottage on Lily Lane was a quick culinary road trip with family-friends from hot hot hot Sacramento, CA. Pacific Northwest weather did not disappoint in showing every single possibility from stillness to high wind, blue sky to drowning downpour. On our way to Seabrook, in search of Dancing Goats coffee in Olympia, we stumbled on the Olympia Farmers Market. Shopping there heightened our desires for a genuine PNW dinner: fresh pea vines, endive and garlic with scapes, Alaskan halibut and Chinook salmon. Not to mention a fine Batdorf & Bronson Timbales for the breakfast table and new Provençale long stem lavender and Scarlet O'Hara poppy to plant in the garden. We visited Voss Acres at Copalis Crossing to round out our meal with fresh ginger, purple potatoes (to be gingered and garlicked)and Valencia Oranges from the Sacramento area for fresh juice in the morning. Our walk on the beach revealed the unusual sand cairn formations seen above. After our wet walk, very blue sky and stillness happened right when we wanted to use Daydream Cottage's gas grill to prepare gingered carrots and fresh fish. ~Bon Voyage. Bon Appétit.
